Abstract
As well known, exchange of nucleons by mesons generates the nuclear forces. In a non-relativistic system, the interaction can be considered as instantaneous and is represented as a static potential. In the relativistic realm, the interaction is not instantaneous, so due to retardation, when the emitted meson is in flight (i.e., emitted but not yet absorbed), one of two interacting nucleons can emit another meson which is then absorbed by the third nucleon. This interaction involving three nucleons cannot be split in two successive two-body interactions and therefore it contributes in the irreducible three-body forces. Our solutions of two- and three-body light-front and Bethe-Salpeter equations and their comparison with each other will be presented. They confirm this physical picture. We conclude that the three-body forces as a relativistic correction are unavoidable, though the relativity is not the only source of them.
