Abstract
I will give a colloquium-style introduction to physics of vortex (or twisted) particles and their potential use as novel probes of fundamental interactions and hadronic structure.Vortex particles are freely propagating wavepackets with helical wave-fronts. Asa result, they carry intrinsic orbitalangular momentum which can be experimentally controlled.Bringing them in collision will allow one to study scattering processes with a completely new degrees of freedom,which are not attainable in a traditional setting. I will show what kind of information this process can offer and suggest topics for future research.
